Doodling Photos: Capturing the Beauty in Everyday Moments
Have you ever found yourself doodling on a piece of paper, letting your pen wander aimlessly, only to discover small, delightful images emerging from the randomness? This whimsical act of doodling can be translated into photography, where the focus isn’t on grand subjects or perfect compositions, but on the small, everyday things that often go unnoticed.
Bring your camera even if you haven’t the closets idea what, or if, you want to shoot any pictures.
Do you remember bringing your camera round and making use of it, even when not aiming for something especially? Feel free to comment below.
The Art of Doodling Photos
Just like doodling, doodling photos is about embracing spontaneity and finding joy in the mundane. It’s about letting your camera wander and capturing whatever catches your eye, without overthinking or planning too much. This approach allows you to see the world with fresh eyes and appreciate the beauty in the ordinary.
Finding Inspiration in the Everyday
When you doodle photos, nothing in particular has to be the focus. It could be the way the light hits a cup of coffee, the texture of a worn-out book, or the shadows cast by leaves on a sidewalk, christmas decorations, a funny bicycle in the street. Anything will do. And it might be very interesting when captured on camera.
These small, everyday things can tell a story and evoke emotions just as powerful as any grand landscape or portrait.
Tips for Doodling Photos
- Keep Your Camera Handy: Whether it’s your smartphone or a dedicated camera, having it ready means you can capture moments as they happen.
- Embrace Imperfection: Don’t worry about getting the perfect shot. Sometimes, the charm lies in the imperfections.
- Experiment with Angles: Try different perspectives. Get low, shoot from above, or tilt your camera to see things differently.
- Focus on Details: Look for interesting textures, patterns, and colors in your surroundings.
- Stay Curious: Let your curiosity guide you. If something catches your eye, take a photo of it.
Sharing Your Doodles
Once you’ve captured your doodles, share them with the world! Post them on your blog, social media, or create a photo journal. You’ll be surprised at how these small, everyday moments can resonate with others and inspire them to see the beauty in their own surroundings.
I started the day with a picture of Arthur, our dachshund. Then later, on this sunday my wife and I took a stroll in a city named Svendborg in Denmark. Looked at Christmas decorations and had a warm cup of chocolade. As always, I had my Leica with me, and just randomly took a picture. Doodling a little. Without any great aim. Just enjoying it. What photography is also about, and doesn’t have to have a certain purpose. Just camera doodling.
