Evening post from Berlin

As the previous blog post announced, I am in Berlin for a few days. The German capital has much to offer, with historical and modern architecture, and everything from business people to artists and hipsters. A city built for street photographers.

A dog palying it´s game in front of the former wall that divided east and west Berlin. Now decorated and reminding us of a history we shouldn’t forget.

I walked along the river Spree yesterday and the weather was beautiful. You don’t have to walk a lot to find great moments, and as usual, when I find good light and interesting scenery I stay there for some time. I simply wait and see what happens.

Yellow

The yellow colour is a strong colour for the colour photos, and is even more vivid when the sun lights it up. The yellow fence caught my attention, and then it was just waiting for someone entering the scene.

Light is important because it dictates both the exposure settings and the mood of the scenery. I therefore shift places to find the best spots where activity is present, and then I simply observe.

Love is in the air

My favourite photo of the day, even when I didn’t nail the focus completely as I had the lens full open at f1,4, was the couple in love. Just a positive and nice moment happening beside me.

RAW and JPEG

The Leica M9 was set to capture RAW for possible colour photos, and a sidecar black-and-white preset JPEG, because the Leica M9 produces some excellent BW right out of the camera. If they fail, I have the RAW to adjust.

All images end up in the Lightroom for simple or more detailed post-editing.

Editing todays pictures and writing in the lobby at Hotel Michelberger.

I had an exciting trip today, and I will show what came out of that tomorrow. It will be in colour. So much I can say. Stay tuned.

Coffee and camera in the lobby at Hotel Michelberger. A good start of the day.
