Monochrome portraits
The monochrome style isn’t just a favourite of mine for street photos. It’s also what I prefer for portraits. The clean expression without colours to disturb the message is what brings the strongest impression of a person I find.
I try to vary the distance, the angle and the expression during a shoot to bring out the best possible result. The only thing I do not change is the focal length. Always the 50mm attached giving me the optimal distance and best optical view.
I always lurk a little around waiting for the moment when the subject isn’t too aware of the camera when possible. When they are relaxed I find the best moments most of the time.
