In the midst of a place, where people pass by, there stands a man who immediately draws my attention. He isn’t tall, but his presence is undeniable. A cigarette dangles from his lips, adding a touch of casual coolness to his look. Unlike the more formal-looking crowd, he stands out, an interesting figure of contrast and character.
I notice his clothes aren’t just thrown on; they’re carefully chosen. Every piece, from the cut of his jacket to the shine of his shoes, speaks of elegance and a unique personal style. He carries himself with a confidence that suggests he knows exactly who he is and isn’t afraid to show it. In a world that often values blending in, he is a refreshing reminder of the power of individuality.

A small camera makes a difference
Using my steady old Leica M9, a camera known for its discreet design, and a 50mm lens, I can get close enough to capture these intimate moments without intruding. This setup allows me to blend into the background, ensuring that the scene’s authenticity remains untouched. It’s in these quiet, unguarded moments that the true stories of individuals like this man come to life, and it’s these stories that I strive to share through much of my photography.
